ARTIST STATEMENT 

I am obsessed with the absolute beauty of imperfection. I endlessly search for antique components for my creations that are tormented by the degradation and decay that is only achieved through age, utility and long-term exposure to the elements. These items have a spectral energy born of the craftsmen that manufactured them and the farmers, housewives, scientists and laborers that utilized them in their daily pursuits decades and centuries ago. I query each artifact with my hands, my eyes and my imagination in desperate attempts to learn more about the departed souls that imparted the peculiar vitality each object possesses but, in the end, I can only preserve the patina, the cracks and the blemishes, the essence of their mysterious energy, and allow them to offer you clues to their story and their journey through time.  Ultimately, my goal is to create a meaningful, cohesive work of art that celebrates the distressed and haunting beauty of these antique components by complementing their eccentric features with unconventional, yet harmonious, contemporary materials.
