The Morning After

We have all had those times when we said or did something we were not very proud of. We openly criticized a friend for their beliefs, snapped at a loved one for something trivial or let our head explode over an issue that we have no control over. After all is said and done, we feel embarrassed and ashamed and spend the next few days beating ourselves up over our momentary display of ignorance!

I was working on this piece when I had one of those moments and it gave me the direction in which to take it. I call it “The Morning After”.

The Morning After is constructed with an antique haberdashers wood head form mounted on a vintage wood foundry base. A large driftwood root embellishes the top of the sculpture. The facial features were formed with wet molded leather appliques finished with transparent air brushed acrylics. A taxidermy glass eye and formed copper wire findings finish the piece.
