Finale with Flourish

Finale with Flourish

After two long years of COVID isolation, it was a wonderful treat to be able to attend a live music concert again. The audience seemed so excited and relieved that we could finally enjoy the the exhilaration of feeling the music intimately through our ears, our eyes and our skin.

The orchestra seemed even more animated and eager to create a memorable experience for all of us. The music was electric and the crowd’s response to it drove the musicians to  another level of intensity that was highlighted by the violinist’s impassioned finale performance. It was great evening, one that reliving still brings me to goosebumps.

“Finale with Flourish” was constructed with found driftwood, an antique haberdasher’s hat form and an antique toy violin from Czechoslovakia. The driftwood was given four layers of contrasting airbrushed acrylics which were then scraped and sanded to achieve the distressed finish.
